Here is a sweet little story about how two young children Borrow Benefits as their mom has a phone session with me.

My client, "Liz" is a single mom.  She had asked me for a phone session because at the time she felt very much exhausted from her difficult life.  Her marriage was coming to an end and physical symptoms of all kinds (and depression) had been ongoing for quite a while.

She also mentioned that she could hardly find the energy to deal with her 2 small children.  For weeks now they had been refusing to go to bed.  When they finally were in bed they refused to go to sleep.  Because of all the emotional disturbances they had been witnessing for so long, each night it was a real problem to get them to sleep.

We had our first phone session one evening at 8 pm. Liz was emotionally and physically just about to break.  On top of that she couldn't find a sitter that night for the kids and was upset about that too.  She begged her kids - 3 and 5 years old - repeatedly to be good and not bother her, but they did so for most of the session.  They came into the room once in awhile, watching mom how she tapped and talked into the phone, waiting impatiently for her to finish.
Towards the end of the session they both were tired and wanted to be next to her; by then they were very agitated.  I suggested for Liz to invite them to tap on their sternum, along with Mom, saying things like "I'm so tired, Mom … I want you to hold me."  I could hear them saying it once, then there was a sudden, complete stillness at the other end of the line.
They both had fallen asleep instantly with no effort.  It only took a moment and they were OUT, in sound deep sleep on the floor, draped around Mom.

I am sure that because they had watched their mom doing the tapping several times that evening, their own individual little systems had already borrowed benefits for them earlier, so that it took almost nothing to knock them out.  They had to be carried into their beds and did not wake up until the next morning.  It was the first uninterrupted long night of sound sleeping for both the kids and their mom.

Another time, after we did a few phone sessions undisturbed, Liz didn't have anyone to watch them again.  Her little boy was asleep but her daughter was up, interrupting, waiting for Mom to get off the phone.  Finally I asked Liz to let her talk to me.  She did, and I had her tap - just like Mom - while I asked her what she had been drawing while waiting and if she would do a picture for me?  There she was, answering my questions, tapping on her sternum, getting all sleepy and ready for bed again.

I got my picture in the mail shortly after.  Attached was a photo of both children.  It has a place on the desk in my office; a constant reminder of the three-for-one phone session, when everybody in the family finally got a good nights sleep.
